(YorkPedia Editorial):- Los Angeles, California Jan 6, 2023 (Issuewire.com) – In a world where true kindness is greatly needed and appreciated, Matthew J. Goldberg’s new collaborative book, “Rings of Kindness” addresses that very need.

“Rings of Kindness” is a compilation of true stories of acts of kindness received, as written by Matthew J. Goldberg and 80-plus contributing writers, ranging in age from high school students to senior citizens. These acts of kindness-some seemingly small and some quite heroic in nature-made a difference in the lives of each of the writers who were kind enough to share them.

“These stories,” Goldberg states in the book’s Introduction, “took place in schools, subway stations, and stadiums. During music concerts and during the horrors of The Holocaust. From Nova Scotia, Canada to Queensland, Australia.”

“Rings of Kindness” is not about celebrities, although there is a wonderful story titled “Just a Dad” that reflects on the touching acts of kindness received by late basketball superstar Kobe Bryant.

The “Rings of Kindness” event will take place Sunday, January 29 at 3:30 PM in a private room at the southern Italian restaurant, LA Puglia (1621 Wilshire Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90403).

There is no cover charge or fee, but enjoying some wine and food is encouraged. If you would like to stay for a sit-down dinner after the reading, reservations are required (https://lapuglia.us/). The writers will be on hand to sign copies of the books, which will be available for sale, and a percentage of the proceeds of the book sales will be donated to charity.

“Rings of Kindness” is both uplifting and thought-provoking, and shines a spotlight on the author’s belief that we are connected by our acts and words of kindness. “Just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, kindness is in the heart of the recipient,” Goldberg writes.

The 20 LA-based storytellers who’ll be reading at the event include many writers who are students of Producer/Writer/Actor, Wendy Hammers, who has presented her Tasty Words spoken word salons for over 21 years. There will also be a podcast version of the show available wherever you listen to podcasts. Wendy also travels the country and speaks about her most remarkable credit to date– the fact that she is a 7+ years pancreatic cancer survivor. This experience inspired her story “Fresh Flowers and Vintage Vases,” the opening entry in the book.

For several of the writers, their stories are their first published works. Ali Wolf (a mother of 7 and grandmother of 5) will be reading her story, “Just a Dad.”  Filmmaker and education advocate Harri James will be sharing a story about the gift of life through organ donation. “Matthew’s book is an act of kindness in itself,” said James, “giving the opportunity for new writers to contribute their voice and be published.” Another new writer who will be reading is Boliang “Michael” Wang, whose story, “You’re Always Welcome Here,” offers his unique perspective as a Chinese immigrant during the early days of the COVID pandemic.

The roster of LA writers who will be reading their stories also includes: Lori Alan, Susan Berin, Sheri Dollin, Cathy Dreyfuss, Rachelle Elias, Sean Ewert, Meredith Flynn, Lauri Fraser, Laurie Ginsburg, Linda Goldman, Ellen Heuer, Laurie Schur, Alicia Sedwick, Linda Shaffer, and Suzanne Weerts.

Matthew J. Goldberg will also be attending and reading at the event. He plans to take the book’s message to private and public organizations, including care settings, schools, libraries, and senior centers. Says Goldberg, “There are so many stories to share and to learn about, with each one teaching a lesson that can be discussed and incorporated into our lives.”

“Rings of Kindness” is Matthew J. Goldberg’s seventh published book– an eclectic mix of titles that focus on everything from the joy and humor of parenthood, to the agony and ecstasy of being a Philadelphia sports fan, to acting with kindness and empathy in everyday life.

Goldberg resides in Cherry Hill, NJ with his wife and teenage son. More information about “Rings of Kindness” is available on his website (https://matthewjgoldberg.com/rings-of-kindness).
